B. JOnes

Dan and I were headed out to meet some friends for dinner and as I was thumbing through my closet I got that feeling. You all have probably felt it. "I hate all my clothes or I've got nothing to wear!"

well today my sis was brainstormin some ideas for my new career/ job/ internship and she remembered this friend of a friend with FABulous style and a rad business to boot.  Beth  Jones has pretty awesome style and her own styling business on the side (her day job ain't bad either, working with the Quicksilver women's line).

isn't she cute!

She puts some great storyboards up at her blog and is definitely right ahead of trend... So inspired by her adventurous style.

Super Couponss

I know i am a total nerd and proud of it. But I must share my secret with you. I was recently in Chicago, for my best friends wedding :)  and her older sister was telling me about super couponing and all the deals she scored by doing it. I was definitely skeptical at first, thinking I would end up with 25 packages of fruit roll-ups and gain 5 lbs, but no no no its amazing. So I was checkin out all the great websites where mommas post their coupon finds with direct links to the coupons themselves and when dan got home I begged him to go with me. When it comes to saving money, Dan is always in, so we printed our coupons and headed out the door. We get to the registers with our finds and our 20 coupons and get the DEATH glare from the clerk. She tells me to check my coupons again, quite rudely might I add. Our total was supposed to be $40.66 but after coupons it was only $18.25! And it wasn't just random crap. Lots of Kashi Cereal and bars, BIC pens, Free CHOCOLATE!! and lots more.

Needless to say I was beyond stoked and I needed to share.
Here are some of the websites that really helped me.

PS. some coupons actually give you the item FREE or even  earn you MONey! those were the ones that I was jumping up and down for.

DIY

Lately I have been super inspired to start some major dIY projects around here. The job hunt has been slow and not too promising so I have been exploring all of my FAVORITE dIy bloggers to get some inspiration to redo my bedroom and finally get that guest room/office done! (and on a budget...) My favorite diy blog has to be Young House Love! This cute couple has re-done their abode on a budget and all by themselves. They utilize craigslist (my recent obsession), Home Depot, Target, Walmart and Ikea; just to name a few. If your looking for some tips or your just bored... check out their blog.

Anywaysss.... I have been thinking that I want to start small, I am not going to start with a bathroom reno or start jack hammering the ugly green kitchen tile :) although Lord knows I want to.  I was inspired but amazing plush headboards and beds but I can't afford the $900 price tag! For a headboard? No way. so I started researchin....

We were at Fashion Island yesterday, watching the rediculously rich push their doggies in strollers (barf), and we stumbled upon the store Room Service. SUPER Modern, Fun, and expensive. But loved their beds and was definitely inspired. here are a few...

simple clean lines.. love the linen and the tufting.

super funky and fun... maybe a little advanced for a DIY :)

Here are some comparable ones that I found at Restoration hardware and other retailers.

restoration.

my original inspiration... I love the two lines of nailhead trim and the all white bedding with the fun bolster pillow. not lovin the rest of the room though....

a Pic from someone who did it themselves. I think the trim is too close to the edge. Tip to remember.

I went over to Casa Sugar and found this AWESOME diy tutorial on making one of these.
I am so excited to do this project and hopefully change the look of my drab bedroom! i will definitely post some before and after pics of the room. Wish me luck, I will be operating a staple gun, WATch out.

New antiques in Orange

So I was out in Orange shopping at Country Roads, the best antique mall ever, and came across an amazing line of linens and furniture called Full Bloom Cottage. I usually don't fall for shabby chic decor, but they just do it so stinkin well. They have lots of French inspired furniture and antique pieces that tie their rooms together. Their bedding is TO DIE FOR!! So soft and beautiful. I was about to buy some of their pillows to finish off my bed, but then I looked at the price tag :(

Hey a girl can dream, right?
ahh need those long mirrors..

New name, new mission

So you may have noticed that I changed the name of my blog.... that is if anyone out there even reads this thing... if there isn't a soul, it wouldn't change a thing. Blogging is kinda therapeutic, a good way to journal and a good way to let the creative juices flow. So I made a switch to the new name. I figured I was blogging more about my new interests as a wife than anything else.

Speaking of wifely duties... I am sittin next to the hub, waiting for dinner to be done and the best smell in the whole wide world is swirling through this 2 bedroom apt. GARLIC. if it didnt make your breath smell so aweful, I would eat it by the clove...
I just have to share some amazing food blogs I have recently fallen in love with!

Balboa Island Garage sale!

The hub and I met up with my sister and some friends to shop the super early Saturday morning garage sales on Balboa Island in Newport Beach. This sale happens once a year and we have heard some great things. It doesn't take much to convince me to get to any garage sale... but over 300 garage sales in one place for 5 million dollar homes.... I AM IN!!!

excited to bargin...

Here are some of my finds.

needs some paint and a shade... but great find for $10 bucks!

vintage tins and cigar boxes. total= $4

50 cents... yep. cole suggested starting a collection and hangin them in them funky in the guest room :)

the baker in me could not resist this amazing rolling pin. From England, you can fill it with flour and pour as needed. love it. = $6

Best find of the day. Vintage pressed flowers straight from a store in the South of france.... Mom said they were a major find. I got 16 prints at $30 a piece and I am going to resell them for $60 a piece. That is if I can let go of them... they would be amazing all clustered in the dining room :)

D after a day of shopping... a well deserved nap. what a sweet man i got.
